REMBAU (NEGERI SEMBILAN) - MR MOHAMAD Razel Sarmin was driving in a Johor-bound lane on the North-South Highway when an express bus hurtled into his path from the opposite direction.

'The bus crashed into a Toyota Hiace van which spun several times. I managed to avoid the bus, but my car grazed the back of the van,' he was quoted as saying in a New Straits Times report yesterday.

The 38-year-old driver was one of several dozen people hurt in a horrific six-vehicle pile-up on Sunday evening which left 12 dead and more than 40 others injured.

The north-bound Delima Express bus, which was heading for Kuala Lumpur, was believed to have skidded before crashing through the guardrail and into the path of oncoming vehicles near Simpang Ampat in Negeri Sembilan. These included a van, another bus and three cars.

The bus driver, 52-year-old R. Ramachandra, and the van driver were among those killed. Nine were Malaysians and the other three were Myanmar nationals.

Mr Mohamad Razel, who had seven other family members with him in his car, stopped at the side of the expressway. They saw bodies all over the road, he said.

Alfatihah and condolences to all whom lost their family members. Most of them are Malaysian youngsters....
